“The restaurant is on the lower ground floor but we got a seat next to the windows so we had natural sunlight. For the starter I had wasabi cured salmon and my partner had pan seared scallops with hog pudding. Both were well presented. the salmon was lightly cured and orange worked surprisingly well with it. I guess it is still in the citrus family but a bit sweeter than lemon. I didn’t know what hog pudding was but was meaty and juicy and combined well with the sweetness of the scallops.”

“Without a doubt, it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Each plate is well thought out with interesting combinations of flavours. Great ingredients, great venue and service. Although mains might seem expansive compared to typical high street restaurants, for what you get, it's good value. There is an excellent wine list with a bottle to suit all budgets. The venue itself is comfortable and relaxed, and not stuffy or pretentious.”

“Cosy downstairs in winter and cheery in the summer in the garden. Privately owned by someone who cares, you will be treated well at the Rendezvous. Good proper bistro food, great wine list. The legal people of Exeter go here for after work drinks which can be interesting. I’ve been coming here for years and highly recommend it. Last week I had a very satisfying steak cooked exactly medium rare as I asked. The desserts were very popular on my table too.”
